Remember vacations? Those opportunities when you would take time to “relax” and “get away”? Where you could take time for … yourself? Yes, those!

The United States is starting to stretch its arms again. It yearns to travel again. Google searches related to travel increase as the country opens up and the urge to go somewhere can finally be satisfied.

As COVID-19 travel restrictions ease and the number of vaccinated individuals ramps up, people are thinking more about taking some time away, if only for a weekend. We speak to more and more people hopeful to get back out into the world.

Looking for a quick getaway? If the goal of your trip is to get to your destination in a flash, the quickest way to travel greater distances is flying a private charter aircraft with Omni Air Transport. With that in mind, we curated a list of destinations (with some helpful links) reachable under a two-hour flight, the perfect amount of time to decompress and relax.

Aspen, Colorado (ASE) – 632 nautical miles from TUL

private charter to colorado

One of the true gems of the Rocky Mountains, Aspen is the upscale mountain destination for our clientele. Aspen / Pitkin County Airport is one of the more dramatic airports to land at as it is surrounded by mountains. Those mountains make for superb fishing, hiking, and just about any other mountain activity you can imagine in White River National Forest

The skiing is as good as it gets at Aspen / Snowmass Resorts. There are technically four resorts but it all resides under one home. They are all easily accessible and each have their own personalities: Aspen for the more experienced skier, Snowmass for a more family-friendly atmosphere, etc.

If you are a cyclist, our chief pilot recommends the Eagle Valley trail between Eagle and Glenwood Springs. There are a lot of options for MTBs and the main trail is paved if you are a road cyclist.

Shopping is taken as seriously in Aspen as outdoor activities. There are high-end boutiques throughout the village that you usually associate with New York and Paris, certainly not a mountain village.

Aspen real estate is also a competitive sport in this part of Pitkin County. The views from these homes are amazing along with their value. It is one of the most valuable housing markets in the country and worthy of the title.

Santa Fe (SAF) – 557 nautical miles from TUL

A remarkably easy destination to make from Tulsa is Santa Fe, NM. Santa Fe Regional Airport is only 1-½ hours away. Pro-Omni Air Transport: It takes longer to make it to Grand Lake on a busy weekend by car.

Located proximate to the Santa Fe National Forest and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Santa Fe is one of the nation’s oldest cities settled by Spanish explorers and also one of the most visually stunning areas in the world. Stunning enough that Georgia O’Keeffe made the Ghost Ranch, located close to Santa Fe, one of her homes. It carries on as a working ranch and bustling retreat and a world-renowned museum.

Another must-see is the Santa Fe Plaza which has been the focal point of Santa Fe since the early 17th Century. Ringed by galleries, boutiques and hatch chili dining options, a day on the Plaza is a day well spent.

A few other staples on the “Santa Fe to-do” list are visits to the world-famous Santa Fe Opera. Absent New York’s opera, it may be one the most acclaimed operas in the nation.  And no visit to Santa Fe is complete without a trip to the legendary, immersive art experience, Meow Wolf. Simply put: It’s one of the coolest art installations in the world.

New Orleans, LA (MSY) – 467 nautical miles

private charter to new orleans

One of the oldest, most historical and certainly most fun cities to spend a weekend in is New Orleans. There is a reason virtually every major American sport tries to play their championship in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome

The city that breathed life into jazz is still the musical center of this nation. The bands you can hear in the French Quarter and Frenchman Street is simply some of the best music in the world. The food scene is so good it does not seem real. Free tip: go to Mother’s. Everything is good. Every. Thing.

The shopping is more off-the-beaten-path, but as with any cultural center, stunning boutiques, antiques and art galleries populate New Orleans Parish. If strolling through shelves of timeless literature is more your speed, make some time for Faulkner House Books.

These are just a few of the easily reachable destinations Omni Air Transport flies. When planning your weekend getaway, anywhere within 700 nautical miles from Tulsa International Airport is, weather providing, reachable within two hours by one of our private charter jets.
