Top Travel Destinations

Omni Air Transport took a look at some of our favorite and most popular vacation destinations for leisure travelers. From the untamed wilderness to idyllic mountain villages, these top destinations provide a truly experiential escape.

Consider chartering one of Omni’s private flights to your next vacation at one of these amazing destinations:

1. Boundary Waters, Minnesota/Canada

Some of the nicest wilderness areas in the northern hemisphere are right outside Ely Airport on the United States side of the border in Superior National Forest. Depending on your aircraft needs, you can fly into Ely, Minnesota, (KELO) or Grand Marais, Minnesota, (KCKC).

According to National Geographic Traveler, Boundary Waters, Minnesota, is one of the 50 Places of a Lifetime, calling this wilderness destination a “paradise found.”

Visitors can take advantage of Boundary Waters’ wide variety of adventures and outdoor activities. There are ample opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, foraging, birdwatching, hunting and more.

Anglers should know that Boundary Waters is known around the world for amazing fishing of pike, walleye, trout, bass, crappie and perch. Multiple outfitters can assist you in getting to and from your destination as well as allowing you to experience the DIY spirit that has made this part of the country so explorable.

2. Hilton Head, South Carolina

As famous for its stunning beaches as it is for its majestic golfing, this quintessential resort now boasts over 250 hotels at every level of luxury you can imagine. There is something for everyone here.

However, if you are a golfer, there is the Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort. Not only is this a premier golf destination, but the resort is the top end of luxury. There is even a Disney Resort for the entire family. Whether it is a once-in-a-lifetime golf outing with friends, a family adventure, or a quiet weekend for a couple, this fly-in destination has something for everyone.

3. Telluride, Colorado

Ranked #1 Best Small Town to Visit in the USA by US News & World Report, this year-round destination captivates visitors with impressive mountain scenery. This premier ski destination in the San Juan Mountains has become a huge draw in the summer for private jet trips. As a ski destination, it cannot be left out of the conversation of top luxury destinations. They receive 300+ inches of snow per year and have some of the best trails in the world. Book a Learjet 45 or 75 and fly directly into Telluride, Colorado.  If winter conditions limit operations due to snow build up on the runway, an alternative option would be to fly into Montrose, Colorado (KMJT).

In the summer, the high altitude features cooler weather during the days and nights that call for s’mores over a fire. Heat and wind conditions are something to be aware of during the summer and fall months. Always try for a morning or afternoon arrival and departure.

Telluride’s downtown boasts shopping, fine dining and some top-notch resorts. There is plenty to do including hiking, mountain biking, trout fishing and just about anything else you could imagine in a bustling summer setting in the mountains. With their world-class music and arts festivals, Telluride is a must-visit.

4. Gaston’s White River Resort, Arkansas

If you want a day trip for some of the world’s best trout fishing, your destination is less than an hour due east from our Tulsa hangar. Gaston’s fly-in resort has been hosting fishermen for over 50 years on the banks of the White River. There are 79 guest cottages and a rustic restaurant with a famous Sunday brunch—if you can stay away from the fishing long enough.

Their 3,200-foot turf airstrip limits what planes we can land there – contact your Omni professional to find out which of our planes are available. But if you and your crew want amazing trout fishing without the long trip to high mountain streams, this is the premier destination in the region. Depending on your aircraft needs, charter a flight to Flippin, Arkansas, (KFLP) or Mountain Home, Arkansas, (KBPK). If weather or weight limitations are a concern, larger runways are located only 30 miles away.

What are you going to do with all the trout you pull out of the river? The guides will clean your catch for you. The restaurant is better than most and will even cook your trout for you right there. Even if you are not a huge fan of fishing, the bait shop and cheeseburgers are worth the trip alone. More information here.

6. Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, Canada/Montana.

There are not enough adjectives to describe the beauty that is Glacier National Park on the Montana Canada border. Spending time there feels as if you are in a sacred space full of grizzlies and moose and pristine wilderness. People greet each other on the trails in hushed whispers, respectful of the serenity around them. There exists a tranquility and peacefulness that is unsurpassed with a dramatic beauty unrivaled anywhere else on the planet.

Part of its attraction is the rustic charm from the Swiss chalet-inspired national park hotels. Only open for a few months out of the year and prone to closures during fire season, the Going-to-the-Sun Road is a must-do as well some of the 700+ miles of trails. Pack your suitcases because the summer days can get warm (80+) but the nights provide cool temps. Get to your gorgeous campsite early to set up your tent and get a fire started before the sun goes down.
